What is play therapy?
Play therapy uses toys and art materials as a medium to allow children to explore their feelings without the need to use words. Even children who are good with words will sometimes find it difficult to find the words to explain what they are feeling and why. In a play therapy session, the child can use their natural language of play to explore their thoughts, which the therapist then reflects back to offer them insight.
Schools
Individual Play Therapy
For children with a higher level of need. Children will attend therapy sessions once a week for a 40 minute session. These sessions last for a minimum of one term and give children a chance to explore the thoughts and feelings behind their behaviours.

Group Play Therapy
For children with a moderate level of need and the same referral reason (for example low self-esteem, bereavement, young carers, siblings of children with SEN, family breakdown). Children meet for one hour once a week for a set number of sessions (usually a half term). For groups of up to 5 children in the same age group.Â

Staff well-being
As a former teacher, I understand the pressures staff face in schools. I can offer a supportive, non judgemental space for staff to explore these stresses through creative means.
